The Square Town Centre in Tallaght has just reopened a state of the art multiplex cinema under new management, which is run by the ever-popular family owned Irish cinema chain, Movies@. Focused on delivering the best possible cinema experience, Movies@ have completely refurbished the existing 13 screen cinema to include all laser projection equipment and upgraded 7.1 sound system, with 9.1 featuring in their plush VIP section – the first of its kind in Dublin. The entire auditoria has been reconfigured to optimise sight lines for customers and includes double sofas and recliner seats throughout.
The Movies@ chain has locations in Dublin, Swords, Wexford and Waterford and opened their first multiplex cinema in Dundrum Town Centre in 2005. Similar to their other venues, Movies@The Square has multiple screenings, provide a vast variety of food and confectionary offerings and include private event bookings, turning it into a world-class venue that can be enjoyed by the local and wider communities. Movies@ will be the latest addition to The Square’s ongoing expansion and development project including the upcoming arrival of Penneys later this year. The cinema at The Square Town Centre was the first such multiplex in the country when it opened in 1990.
Graham Spurling, Managing Director for the Movies@ Group, said “We are so excited to be opening our doors at The Square and being able to give the Tallaght community the much anticipated cinema multiplex they deserve. We want our customers to have an unforgettable guest experience in our spectacular new high-end, modern surroundings with competitive ticket prices and seating options for everyone. With our sensational new all laser projection and cutting edge sound system elevating the offering even further, Movies@TheSquare are really setting the scene for the future of cinema in Ireland.”
Marcus Wren, Managing Director and founder of Sigma Retail Partners, the asset management company for The Square Town Centre, said “finding the right cinema partner for The Square Town Centre was very important to us, our customers and the continued success of the shopping centre. After the previous cinema operator closed in early 2020 due to the impact of Covid-19, we have been working very hard to ensure that we find a new partner to operate the cinema in the centre. After an extensive and vigorous search, we are absolutely thrilled that Movies@ have taken this position. We wish them all the best and we are very confident they will be extremely successful in The Square. A huge effort has been made by our superb design and leasing team, together with The Square Centre Management team, to deliver what will be the Number 1 cinema experience in Ireland.”
