The Square Gift Card

Dear Customers,

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we are currently unable to sell, accept or process refunds on gift cards at The Square.

This is due to the revocation of the licence of UAB PayrNet, the electronic money institution (EMI) that issues and authorises the use of the gift cards.  This has had wide reaching impact, affecting many shopping centres and service providers across Ireland and Europe

In order for gift cards to be usable again, migration to a new EMI is required.  The programme manager of our gift card scheme has been working with all necessary parties to expedite the move to a new EMI (Paynovate) as quickly as possible.

The initial timelines we received were hopeful this would be in place by end of August. We have continually pressing for this migration timeline to be achieved.

We have been notified that a migration date has now been agreed between all required parties, and approved by Mastercard, for the end of September.

This will allow for the resumption of the scheme for 1st of October at the latest, when gift cards can be used once again.

There will be no reduction in customers gift card value due to the halt in the scheme.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience and concern caused during this time.

Regards,

The Square Management Ltd.
