Rules & Guidelines

• There is a limit of one entry per performer or group. 
• An entry can be made up of 1 individual, to a duet, up to a maximum of 8 participants performing as part of a group, however bands not permitted due to technical limitations.
• Entrants must provide a video of their vocal singing (no lip syncing), instrument playing, musical theatre, dance, dramatic performance, comedy act etc. 
• All entries—including music lyrics and costumes—must be family friendly.
• Performance submissions should not be longer than 90 seconds. (Finale stage performances can be up to max 5 minutes in length)
• Contestants will be judged on technical skill, stage presence, quality of performance, and entertainment value.
• Performances must be appropriate for the live show set-up, including performance area and event technical capabilities- no trapeze artists unfortunately! 
• Organisers decision is final in all circumstances.

Competition Stages

• Submit video entry by 31st March 2024. See “How to Enter” below.
• A maximum number of approved submissions will proceed to a voting stage where videos will be uploaded to The Square website for public voting.
• A maximum of 10 submissions will advance to the Grand Finale on 20th April 2024.
• Finalists will comprise of first 50% decided by public vote, remaining 50% decided by judge’s vote.

How To Enter

• Submit video sample of intended performance by latest midnight on Sun 31st March 2024. Submissions should not be longer than 90 seconds.
• Phone videos are great but do your best to record high-quality video/audio by considering your backdrop and lighting.
• All videos should be recorded in the horizontal/landscape position.
• Start your video with a quick introduction, briefly explain your talent and begin the talent.
• Submit your video to the WhatsApp Number 083 070 1068
• Ensure entrants are available for the Grand Finale on the afternoon of 20th of April 2024.

Important Information

Content deemed inappropriate will be removed. This includes, but is not limited to content that is:

• Racist, sexist, or sexual
• Threatening or abusive,
• Harassing or bullying,
• Offensive, obscene or contains profanity,
• Spam, junk, or advertising,
• Derogatory or defamatory,
• Unlawful or discriminatory,
• Not respecting another’s privacy,
• Containing personal, confidential, or copyright information,
• Political or lobbying,
• Not suited to a community of all ages, or
• Any other content that The Square deems as inappropriate or irrelevant to its community.

By entering this competition, entrants accept and acknowledge full responsibility for their decision to participate in all stages of the competition. All participants release The Square, their related bodies corporate, affiliates, officers, agents and employees from all liabilities, loss and damage of any kind arising at any time out of, or in connection with, the acceptance of, and participation in, the competition/event.  By entering the talent show, participants grant The Square the right to use their submitted videos and live performances for promotional purposes related to the competition/event, including but not limited to advertising, marketing, and social media. Participants understand that their content may be edited for promotional use. Without limiting the foregoing, the released parties will not be liable for any injury, sickness or death, property loss or damage or other direct or indirect loss or damage of any kind, howsoever sustained or incurred, in connection with or arising out of the prize or any other aspect of the competition.
